Find A Quick Way To Expressions and Integers

Constants, Variables, Terms, Expressions, Equations and Integers

In this blog, I will explain Constants, Variables, Terms, Expressions, Equations, and Integers in detail.

1.Expressions and Integers : Constants

Constants, Variables, Terms, Expressions, Equations, and Integers pi - constants
Constants

Constants are fixed numbers whose value does not change during solving of a problem. Any number like 1,2,3,4 etc. or values like pi doesn’t change while you solve any problem. Values like x, and y are not constants because if the value of x and y change. It can be any number.

2.Variables

Constants, Variables, Terms, Expressions, Equations and Integers - Variables
Variables

Variables are numbers that changes whiles you solve the problem. Say x and y or square of x. Value of x can be 1 or 2 or 3 or anything. So the value is not fixed and keeps on changing. Meaning of vary = change.

Few examples of variables are x, y, z.

3.Terms:

Expressions and Integers - term
Expression and Integers – term

A term is a single number or variable, or numbers and variables multiplied together. Say 6x where 6 is a constant/single number and x is variable so 6x is a term, 2 + 3, here 2 and 3 are single numbers. Together they form the addition of two terms.

A few Examples of terms are 5x, 7 times a number x, and a number x times one.

4.Expressions:

Expression
Algebraic Expression

Expression in English consists of feelings connected with reactions. Feelings can be happy, sad, etc, in short, mixed feelings. Similarly, Expressions in math are mathematical statements that have a minimum of two terms containing numbers or variables, or both, connected by an operator in between.

A few Examples of expressions are 8 – x, and x – x.

5.Equations:

Equation
Equation

Equations are mathematical statements containing two algebraic expressions on both sides of an ‘equal to (=)’ sign. It contains the left-hand side(L.H.S.) and Right-hand side(R.H.S.). Both together forms equations.

Few Examples of equations are 3x + 4y = 10
